Architecture Rolf Balmer
Built in 1986 to reflect the spiritual touchstones of Tuscany, the hotel is casual by design...
yet never distracts from the luscious gardens that surround it. A full renovation of the property by Rolf Balmer, whose private home designs call to mind the majesty of Frank Lloyd Wright, took place in 2009. Thanks to its abundant terraces, outdoor sitting areas, sublime water features, pool, and verdant gardens, Giardino Ascona instils a sense of enveloped calm.

All rooms and suites feature a light Mediterranean design of earth-tone colors, old-wood parquet flooring...
bright fabrics, and high-quality furniture. The design echoes the formal perfection of the surrounding gardens, yet creates relaxed spaces tinged with surprising bursts of color, while the terraces are designed as natural extensions of the hotel’s beautiful parkland setting. One moves from public spaces that are light-filled and airy into rooms that are equally bright and inviting.
