Architecture Miguel Cardoso
Preserved architectural elements are offset by fresh materials that still speak to the property’s rich history.
Using a varied and inspired material palette that includes stone, mirror, and glass, as well as mosaics and bronze, Nini Andrade Silva has transformed a 19th-century manor house and a newly built structure into a beacon of warmth and welcome. An austere presence is softened through the rich use of decorative elements that speak to the past yet infuses one with a sense of contemporaneity and calm.
Interior design Nini Andrade Silva
Marked by eclecticism, the interior design language places high importance on symbols and aesthetic idiosyncrasies.
The immensity of the grand spaces at Vila Foz is balanced by the designer’s liberal use of patterns, warm colors, flowing lines, and soft finishes. Taken together, enormity and nuance, opulence and comfort create unexpected contrasts that allow guests to feel as if they are living in both Old World Portugal and the modern day.
