Architecture Samuel Torres de Caravalho
Tucked away on a narrow street, Memmo Alfama is one of Lisbon’s hidden treasures.
The hotel blends seamlessly into the surrounding buildings in perfect harmony with the neighborhood’s history. Madrid-based architect Samuel Torres de Carvalho—who also oversaw the restoration of sister property Memmo Baleeira—led the re-design of this 19th-century structure. The hotel’s crowning architectural highlight is its terrace, which offers panoramic views over the red rooftops of Lisbon.
Interior design Memmo Design Team
The design team at Memmo Alfama put an emphasis on tactile and long-lasting materials.
An abundant use of wood and warm tones creates a soothing ambience that balances the authentic with the contemporary. With their high-quality linens, natural woods, and a rich sandy palette accented by cool grays, each room is a study in simple sophistication.
