The six buildings that make up the Kazerne complex are unified through the brilliant use of glass, brick, and steel.
Set in a former military barracks and an adjoining industrial warehouse, the hotel is made up of inviting functional spaces that are fluid, open, and largely devoid of visual barriers, such as walls. From the reception area and the roof to the open kitchen and lobby, transparency abounds, thematically echoing the neighborhood’s industrial heritage.

Informed by the past and future of design, Kazerne offers three looks: Dutch, industrial, and social.
In each case, the emphasis is on forming a bridge between art and design, with each work presenting the signature look of its creator, which includes such leading lights as Maarten Baas, Joost van Bleiswijk, and Studio Drift. Here, the rooms showcase textured surfaces, natural materials, and rich fabrics using a mainly black-and-white color palette.
