Architecture Andrés Saavedra Design

Characterized by sleek lines, airy interiors, and an effortless wabi-sabi sensibility, Hotelito at MUSA establishes a meaningful connection between self and the stunning natural surroundings.

Designed for a subtropical climate, the architecture is purposefully built for functionality, efficiency, and maximum comfort amid a raw, coastal jungle landscape. Open-air bathrooms and living areas allow for cross-breeze ventilation, while lush rooftop gardens and exterior landscaping promote naturally cooler indoor spaces. Here, unobstructed 180-degree views of the horizon capture the dazzling and untamed Pacific and every sunset.

Interior design Andrés Saavedra Design

Panoramic ocean vistas and a jungle backdrop provide the tranquil natural context for upscale, surfside rooms that thoughtfully merge traditional Mexican techniques with a contemporary, minimalist aesthetic.

Working with local and Mexican design teams, Hotelito at MUSA’s interiors present a world of handcrafted textures and finishes, contemporary lines, airy interiors, and an organic and tactile sensibility. The “Tropical Modernist” laidback aesthetic ensures a raw authenticity through understated elegance and neutral natural materials, such as polished concrete, granite, Parota wood carpentry, and handmade black terrazzo tiles.

Farm-to-table Regenerative food and farming

More than a hotel, Hotelito at MUSA is a sprawling, ecological community with a strong farm-to-table concept.

Hotelito at MUSA aims to grow as much produce as possible in the circular permaculture farm. Roam through acres of palm groves, or take a tour of the gardens where wild-growing flora and fauna is harvested to become the delicious ingredients on your plate. Likewise, take a guided fishing tour, and eat what you catch that day as the chefs prepare your seafood haul for dinner back at Alba.

Food & Drink Nourishing seaside dining

Elevated dining and chef’s table experiences await at Alba, or enjoy après surf with all-day snacks and cocktails at Club de Playa.

With thoughtful food rooted in the farms, seas, and ranches of the surrounding region, Alba offers nightly ambient farm-to-table dinners. Here, the culinary talent of the bright and young chefs is on full display—and with an exciting chef-in-residence program in regular rotation, you’ll get the best talent, produce, and flavor profiles in Guerrero and beyond. Meanwhile, for a chill day spent beachside, enjoy cocktails, snacks, and seafood straight from the local water at Club de Playa.

Sustainability Keeping an eye on our Conscious Hotel Principles

“We look to nature to inspire futuristic design within an eco-conscious paradigm that demonstrates a positive impact on the communities around us, ourselves, and the environment.”

Architecture

Architecture

The hotel’s design employs traditional local natural materials, sourced from family-owned businesses, such as Parota wood and bricks from within a 10-kilometer radius as well as local craftspeople and local techniques from as early as the 1800s for the copper tubs. Palapa structures allow cross-breeze ventilation and provide natural cooling.

Waste

Waste

A custom waste management infrastructure allows a lot of materials to be processed. The landscape team composts all organic waste and uses it for soil regeneration and permaculture. Soil regeneration programs (so gardens can retain more water) use oceanic biomass for topsoil and mulch.

Energy

Energy

Solar panels have been built across all structures and the excess energy is redistributed back to the grid. The hotel uses low-energy, high-efficiency appliances and low-impact, intelligent lighting for outdoor and indoor areas, to maintain the circadian rhythms of sea life and birdlife. No batteries are used.

Water

Water

All gray and black water is captured, treated, and used in the gardens or filtered through onsite treatment systems. Every private residence has a water capture roof system. Water saving bathroom fixtures have been implemented while a freshwater, bio pool doubles as a fresh water source for wildlife. The hotel supplies refillable glass water bottles.

Culture

Culture

MUSA invites guests and its extended community to collaborate on programming and events. The hotel has artist-in-residence programs for global and local artists. Local farm tours on- and off-property, visit to the salt flats, sea-to-plate fishing experience, surf guides, and support of local initiatives ensures that the hotel is deeply ingrained in the community.

Recreation

Recreation

Natural activities such as surfing, swimming, yoga, movement, stargazing, and creative interventions are encouraged. Donations are collected for the release of baby turtles by a partnering sanctuary. More than 3,000 trees have been planted to date and increased natural habitats for wildlife. Artificial reefs are regenerating sea life.

Healthyworkplace

Healthy Workplace

Labor is hired directly from the local communities, especially women. The code of conduct for visitors and ethos is printed on staff T-shirts to openly display policies around respect of the people and the land.

Accessability

Products and Produce

Vegetables, fruits, and seafood prepared in the kitchens is grown in the hotel’s organic edible gardens or sourced from nearby farms and independent fishermen. Salt is supplied from a neighboring lagoon, natural soaps from the gender-neutral Mexican skincare brand For All Folks, and custom room fragrance by Izaskun.

Communication

Measure & Communication

Across all channels, the hotel openly asks people to contribute and engage positively to make the vision of a future community possible.
