Before the foundations were even laid, Patina Maldives committed to having no single-use plastics on site—even construction workers used refillable bottles—while 16,800 trees and 320,000 shrubs were transplanted from islands that were due to be cleared for industrial purposes.

with woods, linens, rattan, paper cord, and natural fibers in different muted colors complementing gray stone flooring, whitewashed timber strips, and wooden slatted ceilings. Artwork ranges from intricately handcrafted design pieces to big-name works such as “Amarta”, an installation from the Skyspaces series by world-renowned U.S. artist James Turrell. The building’s exterior spaces, meanwhile, artfully echo the flowing fronds of the embracing palms.

Within a soulful space, therapeutic prowess and scientific technologies create a relaxing environment. Treatment suites include couple’s hammam beds and a room dedicated to the practice of Watsu. A floatation zone soothes mind and body. Saunas and cold showers enable the vascular and cognitive benefits of contrast hydrotherapy. Indulge also in a high and low-impact workout classes, aqua cycling, yoga, paddle boarding, massages, and more.
Food & Drink A gastronomical journey
Time-honoured techniques and the freshest ingredients inform the many dining options at Patina Maldives. Roots offers plant-based meals centred around nutritious, organic, and homegrown produce. Kōen presents a theatrical marriage between Japanese and Nordic cuisine. Brasa delights with rustic grilled meat dishes from the Patagonia region. Helios captures the flavors of the Aegean. And lighter fare is available at still more eateries.

Locally sourced, biodegradable, and reusable materials were used wherever possible. The resort has its own bio-digesters for composting organic waste.
Patina is the first resort in the Maldives with a 100% solar-powered kids’ club, recreation center, and dive center all powered by Swimsol offshore solar panels.
All drinking water on the island will also be produced and bottled in-house with on-island water bottling plant, Nordaq.
The resort has built an on-island organic permaculture garden, which guests are encouraged to explore, where fresh vegetables and herbs will be cultivated.
Locals and guests from surrounding islands are invited to experience the art on the island.
Patina has brought a team of experts to bring disruptive creativity to sustainable guest programming. For example, there will be regular beach clean-ups both on-resort and on neighboring local islands. For every stay, 10kg of marine plastic will be collected, cleaned, and repurposed into Parley ocean plastic material.
Set on a neighboring island, The Fari Campus was purpose-built for staff and designed to foster a sense of belonging and community with a range of recreational facilities, comfortable living quarters, and a vocational training program.
The resort’s energy-positive ethos is demonstrated by participation in global carbon sequester programs that neutralize its carbon output.

Who isn’t inspired by paradise? The arresting works of legendary American artist James Turrell, renowned Brazilian photographer Cássio Vasconcellos, and New York-based textile artist Hiroko Takeda, among others, at Patina Maldives, Fari Islands is proof that nature is the grandest muse.
