  • Location

    • Kurashiki is a rare district in Japan, a place where a mix of historical and modern cultures converge. Japan’s first Western-style art museum, the Ohara Museum of Art, was founded here, followed by the establishment of the country’s second folk crafts museum, Kurashiki Mingeikan. Today, artists and craftsmen continue to reside nearby, while, just outside the city, you can find the traditional kilns of Bizen pottery—one of Japan’s Six Ancient Kilns—where pottery-making continues to thrive. Yoruya is situated in Higashi-machi, just a short walk from the entrance of the Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter—a district renowned for its harmonious blend of contemporary and traditional architectural styles from different epochs and many fascinating options for shopping, drinking, and eating. While the heart of the Bikan Historical Quarter is often lively and bustling with tourists, Yoruya enjoys a quieter setting on the outskirts of this district, offering a peaceful retreat away from the crowds.
