Throughout the renovation process, various Greek architects and firms took part, resulting in three unique “houses”...

where tradition co-exists with pared-back design, playful pops of color, and custom-designed illustrations. Designed to blend harmoniously with the landscape, eco-friendly materials were used throughout, from the non-toxic paints to the ecological Coco-mat mattresses and minimal waste philosophy. Each of the 76 rooms and suites has a pool, sea, or garden view, and each is unique in terms of color and decorations.

The award-winning design agency Beetroot played a big part in creating the visual identity of the renovated resort.

Components of Greek tradition are woven into the design through playful illustrations and typography depicting the poet Aesop’s fables on the bedroom walls, while hammocks, sofas, and loungers stand side-by-side with pieces by Philippe Starck and Achille Castiglioni. Although the surroundings are lavish, there is nothing excessive in the décor and a natural, laidback atmosphere is achieved.

Sustainability Greek and green

Using local natural materials preserves the surroundings while keeping the location at the forefront of the guest experience.

The rooms and suites weave Greek tradition with distinctive designs, while organic forms, sustainability, and an ethos of minimal waste complete the resort's eco-philosophy.

Sustainability Keeping an eye on our Conscious Hotel Principles

“From people to tiny insects and from ancient pine trees to underwater Posidonia, we nurture our ecosystem and empower the local community. Rooted in nature, inspired by tradition, and guided by circular economy values, we evolve into a conscious and sustainable destination.”

Alexandra Efstathiadou

Waste

Waste

The hotel reuses materials and works with a licensed contractor to collect and transport recyclables. Plastic, glass, metal, paper, and used cooking oils are separated and disposed of responsibly through careful waste management practices. In 2024, the hotel recycled 5.72 tons of materials.

Water

Water

Ekies All Senses Resort irrigates its gardens with treated water from the upgraded wastewater plant. This has significantly cut water use, as gardens make up nearly 50% of the hotel’s total consumption.

Energy

Energy

During hotel operations, all necessary energy-saving measures are taken to reduce carbon emissions, including LED lights and motion sensors, and energy-efficient new devices. They also reduce energy loads by using natural light, controlling electronic usage, and careful maintenance to optimize savings and support their sustainability goals.

Architecture

Architecture

All external materials are designed to absorb heat and reflect sunlight, including stone sourced from Halkidiki and marble from the greater Macedonia region. Specific trees for natural cooling were planted, and the colors used throughout the hotel are also eco-friendly, enhancing sustainability and comfort.

Products

Products & Produce

The hotel has its own organic vegetable garden which supplies them with vegetables and edible flowers, and the local market provides local fruit, vegetables, honey, and wine. Meat is sourced from the local butcher.

Healthyworkplace

Healthy Workplace

Staff at all levels are offered training to support in their ongoing development and learning, such as courses on hotel management, ERP systems, and other skills, and waiters are trained by a sommelier. All staff are served delicious, high-quality food and comfortable accommodation throughout their entire stay.

Accessability

Accessibility

The hotel is in a remote area with little public transport, so necessary hotel transfers are minimized, and electric charging stations for guests with EVs are provided. Wheelchair-accessible rooms are also available.

Recreation

Recreation

Ekies organizes volunteer beach and surroundings clean-ups, supports the local municipality’s park restoration, and assists the local elementary school. Guests can join yoga and meditation classes, participate in dinners where they hand-pick vegetables from the organic garden, and go on hikes to explore the local ecosystem.

Culture

Culture

The hotel offers guests excursions to nearby cultural sites like Mount Athos, Olynthos, and Petralona Cave, and encourages engagement with the local community by visiting the open-air food market in Saint Nicholas village.

Communication
