Architecture Martin Borch

Architecture Martin Borch

Gert Wingårdh and his team pay homage to the storied structure’s roots while adding many signature touches.

The building’s imposing sense of space and elaborate, elegant detailing gives the interiors a natural grandeur. The result is a masterclass in marrying old and new: original architectural elements—such as the wood and marble staircase—and motifs have been preserved and restored, delicately emphasizing every detail of the grand design.

Modern twists include a concrete reception desk complemented by an elegant heritage color palette.

While emphasizing the 1903 structure’s original architectural details, Wingårdh added marble, stone, wood, and glass, with a subtly elegant color scheme that includes beautiful green accents. The result is a bold yet elegant look inspired by Le Corbusier’s Sainte Marie de La Tourette monastery from the late 1950s. The rooms have wooden parquet floors and high, white-painted windows with crossbars.

The hotel has faithfully restored the 1903 landmark building that houses it. Originally designed by architect Martin Borch, it is one of the first concrete building structures in the Danish capital.

Waste

A strict waste policy applies at the hotel and in the restaurant. All waste (food, cardboard, glass, plastic, etc.) is carefully sorted and correctly disposed of based on government guidelines.

Water

Water

Denmark has some of the world’s cleanest drinking water. To reduce water waste, the hotel has installed Neoperl regulators on almost every tap.
