While making an accurate imitation of Victoria Harbor’s skyscraping shoreline over the water, Wan Chai’s concrete canopy hides its own multitude of indulgences. The neighborhood is choc-full of eateries that cover all points on the spectrum, from street food stands to high-end restaurants, most with a focus on seafood. While Wan Chai also boasts plenty of shopping opportunities, it is also home to a red light district, which rose up in response to the neighborhood’s booming financial industry. Bars and clubs abound, particularly on and around Lockhart Road, while Victoria Park is a green escape just to the east. Wan Chai is also home to the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre—a huge multipurpose venue with a view across the bay that sees a constant stream of international businesspeople and politicians pass through its doors.
