Inspired by the structure’s original staircase (stiege), the architecture emphasizes curves, mass, and quiet transitions.

Once a restaurant, the home to stieg’nhaus has always been part of local life, standing directly in front of the village church. Newly added floor-to-ceiling windows flood the space with natural light, allowing the natural stone and solid oak materials to breathe. The flowing, curved form of the original staircase inspired a sculptural approach that manifests itself in the curved walls, rounded niches, and the bold, grounded proportions found throughout. Metal details reinterpret the original handrail. Intentionally crafted surfaces and subtle imperfections add warmth and a sense of calm, creating a space where light, materials, and form are in quiet movement.

Rooted in restraint, the hotel’s design channels quiet luxury through natural elegance and timeless simplicity.

The pastel color palette is inspired by the surrounding landscape, while raw, regionally sourced materials and carefully crafted textured walls create an honest, tactile atmosphere. Oak floors lend gentle warmth, grounding each space without overpowering it, and brass fixtures add depth and cohesion throughout. The overall aesthetic is defined by restraint, subtle contrasts, and a deep respect for natural beauty and craftsmanship.
