Location
The Originals
Surrounded by the volcanic beauty of Gran Canaria, Bohemia Suites & Spa offers a secluded setting for guests to soak up the serenity of nature. The hotel is set inside a late-1960s landmark building that rises above the dunes. During the renovation, the architect maintained the heritage of the original structure and worked to honor the wild natural landscape. With this remote location, a deeply rooted commitment to the community was born. Local producers are always the first choice when it comes to supplies, food, and wine, of course, but also arts, crafts, and music. For example, guests can book a private concert in their room, which directly benefits a local musician. Bohemia is working towards a zero-waste goal by avoiding plastics, minimizing single-use items, and reusing refuse wisely.
We spoke with the team at Bohemia Suites & Spa to learn the latest on the hotel’s conscious journey.
We believe in efficiency in our resources and zero waste in our raw materials. We maximize green energy, use no plastics, and minimize single-use products. Whenever possible, we make our purchases from local producers. We ensure continued awareness of environmental conservation among customers and staff.
Local producers and employees are always our first choice—we want to be a part of our island. We aim to be an active partner and participate in all activities of the local administration.
Energy and water waste are our main concerns. Living on an island with limited resources makes you much more aware of this. It’s easy for travelers on vacation to forget these details. We try to make our clients aware of the great importance of natural resources. To help, we have an intelligent system that, among other things, turns off the air conditioners if the windows are opened. We believe that a large list of small examples really makes a difference.
