The award-winning Wingårdhs Architects has transformed a former warehouse into Blique by Nobis, a LEED-certified showpiece in Stockholm’s Hagastaden neighborhood. The architects installed climate-friendly infrastructure from the onset of the project, including LED lights, motion sensors, and time-controlled heat production, during construction. The hotel has achieved the Nordic Swan Ecolabel, an ambitious certification that focuses on the lifecycle of products, from detergent to coffee to furniture. On top of meeting these criteria, Blique by Nobis continues to innovate. The team turned a garage into an indoor farm and hired an in-house farmer to run it. Here—as well as in courtyard and rooftop gardens—the farmer works with hands-on methods to grow produce for the Nobis group’s hotels throughout Stockholm. The hotel collaborates with Klimato, a company that analyzes and labels the environmental impact of each dish to bring awareness and make it easy for guests to make responsible choices.
The hotel has LEED Gold certification. Wingårdhs Architects restored the original structure without adding much new construction.
The hotel recycles and uses KITRO to assess and reduce food waste. All food waste is composted and used in the vegetable garden.
The hotel runs on environmentally certified electricity. Energy-saving measures include LED lamps, time-controlled heat production, and time-controlled ventilation.
Most food and drinks are locally sourced, whether from the hotel’s garden or local producers. The hotel collaborates with Klimato to illustrate the impact of each menu item.
Free breathwork classes can be accessed on guestroom TVs. Guests can also attend a masterclass with the in-house gardener to learn how to plant and harvest vegetables at home.
The hotel rents bicycles during summer and recommends the bus to guests traveling via Arlanda Stockholm airport.
The hotel does carbon accounting each year and communicates sustainable actions with guests via the website, pre-arrival email, in-room TVs, and restaurant menus.

At Blique by Nobis, our paramount objective is to forge a greener future. We are passionate about minimizing our environmental footprint, both individually and collectively with our guests.
About twice a month we host an event in collaboration with local artists, such as singers, stand-up comedians, and jazz musicians. We also host “Blique Talks,” our version of TED Talks, where we discuss important topics. In addition to our hotel guests, many members of the local community attend these events.
It is a challenge to uphold the same level of luxury and pampering that some guests expect while working to have the smallest impact on the planet per guest.
